State-wise monthly sugar quota for sale in March 2025

In an order released on February 28, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 23 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for March 2025 to 579 mills, which is lower than the quota allocated in March 2024.

In March 2024, the government had allocated a monthly sugar quota of 23.5 LMT for domestic sale.

For February 2025, the government allocated a sugar quota of 22.5 LMT.

India's sugar production fell 12 per cent to 19.7 million tonnes till February 15 of the current marketing year ending September mainly due to lower output in Maharashtra and Karnataka, according to industry body Isma data.
