Use of Hydrogen Peroxide in Plantation White Sugar Processing

Mane, J., Pachapute, S.P., et.al.  1999.  The utility of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as a processing aid during sugar manufacture has been demonstrated with the help of mill scale experiments. Treatment of “A” massecuite with H2O2 at pan station one hour before dropping the pan or the treatment of syrup sulphited with a reduced level of SO2 improved significantly the color as well as the keeping quality of the sugar produced.
