Treatment of Sugarcane Wash Water

Hunwick, R.J.  1977.  Harvested cane using mechanical harvester are so dirty that it must be washed prior to milling. Sugar losses to the wash water in this process can amount to as much as 10 to 15 percent. Combined with cane losses accompanying rock and trash removal, overall sugar losses can reach 20 percent. There is an increasing interest in the treatment of this wash water so it can be reused. Treatment of Sugarcane Wash Water. Sugar y Azucar, March 1977:73-80.
