The Use of Nuclear Refractometers for Sugar Crystallization in Sugar Mills and Refineries

Ing. Pineda, A. P.  1996.  El Angel sugar factory has installed four nuclear refractometers; three in the refinery pans and another one at the raw crystallizing pan. With this reliable and exact measurement of the massecuite brix inside the pan, supersaturation can be easily controlled. That is, supersaturation by which boiling is developed, thus obtaining a more uniform grain with the desired size.
