The Economic Realities of Alcohol Fuels
Jawetz, P. 1980. When regarding the ethanol not just as a mere extender of gasoline, but rather as an octane boosting additive for the production of high octane unleaded gasoline, one obtains a set of very favorable economics. In effect each gallon of ethanol displaces over 2.5 gallons of crude, removes the need for expensive deforming equipment, a huge market is opened for agricultural commodities and a whole new network of relations can be established in the hemisphere.
