Recent Development in NIR Polarimetry
Schwabe, G. 1993. The avoidance of the use of basic lead acetate as clarifying agent for polarimetry in the sugar industry is a demand of pollution control. One approach to this problem is given by the transmission characteristics, as even very dark samples like molasses or raw sugars do not show this high absorbance in the near infrared region and so polarimeters working at about 800 nm are able to measure them without any clarification.
