Organically Grown Sugarcane and Associated Problems

Dr. Anderson, D.L.  1999.  From the business perspective, the “organic” label is good business. Logistically however, the organic farm plan is problematic and differs from the standard sugarcane estate. Both the growing of cane and milling for sugar entail strict protocols that permit the use of the “organic” label. This paper briefly outlines the protocols for organically-grown sugarcane in regard to the problems observed and noted for commercial production. Organically Grown Sugarcane and Associated Problems. Sugar Journal, August 1999:16-27.
