Hudson, J.C.  1992.  What suits an annual harvest for sugar may not be best for animal cane, it is to be harvested more frequently. There are also thousands of varieties available which might be ideal for animals, but have been rejected by sugar mills. Where the animal cane is being produced near to a sugar factory, we must ask whether it is better to grow the cane specifically for animal use or whether it makes more sense to integrate the animal cane as part of the sugarcane.
