With the increasing high-tech equipment and computerization, ‘old conventional’ maintenance concepts and systems are outmoded and therefore will have to be adapted to the new plant requirements. Since new equipments are costly, breakdowns must be eliminated, stoppages minimized, but the equipment still must get the best possible maintenance attention – this calls for new maintenance strategies.
