Guo, S.Y., White, E.T., et.al.  1983.  A sequence of plant data is analyzed statistically to correlate variations in the coefficient with naturally occurring changes in plant conditions. Because these changes often result from changes in other conditions, it is sometimes difficult to separate the effects.
