Artificial Wetlands for the Treatment of Mill Effluent

Schumann, G.T.  1992.  Experimental artificial wetlands for treating sugar mill effluent have been in operation at Felixton and Mount Edgecombe for almost two years. The roots of reeds and bulrushes growing in the wetlands supply oxygen for the oxidation of sugars. Chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal was the main yardstick by which the performance of the units was measured. Artificial Wetlands for the Treatment of Mill Effluent. Sugar Journal, March 1992:26-30.
