Analytical Differentiation Cane and Beet Sugar

Bricout, J. and Fontes, J.C.  1977.  It has been determined that sucrose from sugarbeets contains less carbon 13 than that from sugarcane. This results from the fact that the methods of photosynthesis are different in the two plants. It was determined that numerous users desire to know which of the two plants provides the sugar they use. Thus it appears desirable to devise an analytical method to permit accurately the identification of beet and cane sugars. Analytical Differentiation – Cane and Beet Sugar.
