A New Exhaustibility Relationship for Hawaiian Final Molasses

Moritsugu, T., Somera, B.J., et.al.  1976.  Work was begun at HSPA to revise the expected purity tables that had been in use in the Hawaiian sugar industry since 1952. A set of samples was collected over a 2-year period and boiling-down tests were collected. A new relationship was chosen from the boiling-down data. Two equations, one based on a carbonate ash and the other on a conductometric ash relationship were developed. The use of soluble ash as well as total ash was also explored.
