Mexico's 2019 sugarcane season could be negatively affected by the lack of rain, according to El Sol de San Luis news website.

The drought affecting the sugarcane production regions in Mexico has been more intense than in previous years, and producers expect losses and a fall in the current estimate for sugarcane crush next year, according to Antonio Juárez Torres, president of the sugarcane producers association of Plan de Ayala mill.

The lack of rain has affected the growth of the sugarcane this year. About 70% of the total planted area owned by producers associated with the national sugarcane producers association CNC are suffering from drought, and not all of them have irrigation systems.
