Haryana: Farmers demand hike in sugarcane price

Karnal: Farmers demanded the government to hike the price of sugarcane at an agriculture exhibition organised by the ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Regional Centre, Karnal on Wednesday, reports Tribune India. The exhibition was part of the Cane Fest-2022 in which around 2,500 progressive cane farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and others participated in it.

The agricultural exhibition was inaugurated by chief guest Sanjay Bhatia, Member of Parliament, Karnal.

Replying to the demand of cane farmers, the MP said that he will raise the issue of increasing cane prices with the chief Minister. “I assure you that the rates will be higher than that of Punjab,” he further added.

A new variety of sugarcane CO-15023 was displayed at the exhibition and the scientists informed farmers about its benefits.
