In the northern part of Booneville, Arkansas, a genetically modified cane called Miscanthus, or “miscanes” photsynthesize, and thus, continue to grow, even at cold temperature. Particularly, grass species, Miscanthus x giganteus perform well at 10 degrees Celsius, staying green and converting carbon dioxide to plant matter at a steady rate.
